Astra's and vectra's have more room and bigger engines - our favourite is the last of the vectra's before the insignia came out - sooo much scope for modification on those badboys.

Whether its an SRI, SXI or SL - whatever the trim the engines are likely to last well if maintained. I had a friend once who had a 120k mileage corsa and it ran very well. The key here is maintenance - and if you are buying a used corsa, or in fact any modified vauxhall second hand, make trebly sure that you check out all the finer points - perhaps get an AA or RAC engineer to check the vehicle over if you do not feel capable - you do not want to buy a bad motor!
